NACBA SHINES IN PASCO COUNTY
It was FUN IN THE SUN and HOOPS as 73 teams from across the United States and Canada arrived in Pasco County on the Memorial Day weekend of May 24-27, 2024 to compete in the 42nd Annual North American Chinese Basketball Association’s Invitational Basketball Tournament.
Tournament weekend is an exciting time. Seeing friends and familiar faces that have been mainstays of this extravaganza is ALWAYS NICE. Seeing the return of teams from the west coast: Cali Davis Dynasty, Team BLAZE (Texas) and the C.A.S.E. SF Believers and newcomers like the NY/Montreal Kodiaks.
This year, the hoops action was stellar and we saw some of the most hotly contested basketball action ever. In the Men’s Open division, a new champion was crowned as the BOSTON KNIGHTS captured their first Men’s Open title. The Grandmasters 55+ and Masters 50+ saw the continued dominance of CCYAA as they captured the championships once again. Also noteworthy is the accomplishment of the NEW YORK TITANS RED who were repeat champions in the Boys 18u division and also captured the Boys 16u championship. Other division winners include the NEW YORK ROCKITS (Boys 14u), ACABA ELITE (Boys 12u), VANCOUVER/PHILLY STRATHCONA (Girls 18u) and Team BLAZE (Women’s Open).
